Marine Fuel Testing Programme

Marine Fuel Testing Programme

Bunker is one of the biggest operational costs apart from crew wages. With the implementation of IMO2020 sulphur regulation of 0.50%, the global fuel quality varies significantly and sourcing the right fuel is a challenge. Off specs or contaminated fuel can adversely affect engine performance and cause serious damages that could jeopardize the safety onboard.

Marine Fuel Testing Programme (MFTP) is specially designed for Ship Owners and Operators whose vessel receive Marine Bunker Fuel worldwide and deliver rapid and accurate results to ship operators.

It serves as a Machinery Damage Prevention and Fuel Management Programme to highlight potential problems before they occur; in additional provides assistance in complying with safety (e.g. SOLAS) and environmental (e.g. MARPOL) legislation.

Analysis results are compared against the ISO 8217 standard for the respective fuel grade and is followed by operations and technical advice, which covers:

  •  Fuel Usage & Storage
  •  On-board Fuel Treatment
  •  Recommendations for Maximising Fuel Efficiency
  •  Detection of Waste Lube Oils and Other Contaminants in the Fuel
  •  Fuel Ignition and Combustion Quality

The fuel analysis reports will be sent to the customer within 24 hours after the fuel sample has been received by Maritec. We operate 365 days a year, including Weekends and Public Holidays and all participating vessels will be provided with a free sampling kit with detailed instructions and documentation on how to collect representative samples for analysis.
