Service:       ACM removal and air monitoring

Industry:      Fleet in service/new building

Project Information:

There were 4 rolls of gasket sheets onboard detected as Asbestos Containing Material (ACM), located in ER workshop. Proper removal is required by regulations to protect the working crew onboard from being exposed to airborne asbestos fibers. The removal area needs to be checked and verified as Asbestos Free by the competent personnel before any reoccupation must ensure that that person is accredited by an appropriate body as competent to perform work in compliance with the paragraphs of ISO 17020 and ISO 17025 .

CTI Assignment:

Centre Testing International Co., Ltd. (CTI), as independent organization, is engaged as the asbestos removal project designer, manager and supervisor. The working scope includes planning the removal, training the removal workers, managing and supervising the removal, visual inspection and conducting air monitoring upon the completion of the removal to ensure the removal effect.

After 6 hours working onboard with 2 removalists and 2 CTI supervisors, all the ACMs were removed completely and safely. Air sample was collected and transported to CTI lab for analysis. Upon the final testing result, Asbestos Removal Certificate was issued to the specific removal area of the subject ship.
